ABC is having an impressive ratings season with many of its programs wiping out the competition from other channels. Thursdays are making a splash with viewers as last Thursday (May 5) was the biggest audience since March.
Thursday night ratings kick off with “Wipeout†on ABC, up against ratings giant “Idolâ€. ABC’s Wipeout continues to improve its ratings each week and now comes in a virtual tie for second place with CBS comedies “Big Bang Theory†and “Rules of Engagementâ€, with “Idol†still rating first.
According to ABC on average this season, “Wipeout†is delivering substantial year-to-year growth for ABC against “Idol,†improving the time period by 18% in Total Viewers (7.8 million vs. 6.6 million), by 25% in Adults 18-49 (2.5/7 vs. 2.0/6) and by 480% in Kids 2-11.
Next up in the ABC programming is Grey’s Anatomy, which continues to lead the pack not only in its slot time, but it is the number one drama for the 18-49 adult sales demo across the board.
ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy†won Thursday’s 9 o’clock hour, topping Fox’s “Idolâ€, beat out “Bones†by 6%, NBC’s comedies “The Office†and “Parks and Recreation†by 17% and CBS’ “CSI†by 59%.
“Grey’s Anatomy†spin off “Private Practice†earned the second place in the 10:00 – 11:00 slot and is first across all key female demographics. Last week saw “Private Practice†up 3% on the total audience numbers and up 5% in the 18-49 bracket.
These ratings figures show that the ABC programmers are doing something right and people are voting with their remote controls in droves.
